Fandom was a Pixie Norn(breed slot 1). He starved to death because he refused to eat, which I think he may have done partially because of his genetics. Near the end of his life he became very fond of slapping other Norns and thus I gave him the nickname 'Fandom the Menace'.

Genetics:

Fandom doesn't posses a gene to make him die of old age. Instead he posses three mutations!

Original gene:
103 Emb B Mut  'I've Activated1' causes sig=0 GS neu=255 int=0,,, => 3*Tiredness++ + 16*Boredom-- + 0*<NONE> + 0*<NONE>

Mutated gene:
103 Emb B Mut  'I've Activated1' causes sig=0 GS neu=254 int=0,,, => 3*Tiredness++ + 16*Boredom-- + 0*<NONE> + 0*<NONE>

When you try to open this particular gene in the genetics kit it gives you an error and shuts down. Not encouraging, but I don't this mutation actually does anything as originally it stimulates no neuron and all that's changed is which neuron is stimulated. Neuron 254 in the general sense lobe doesn't exist, so the effect remains the same. Unless I'm wrong. It wouldn't be the first time.

Original gene:
111 Emb B DupMut 1*Reward => 1*Reinforcement + 1*RewardEcho

Mutated gene:
111 Emb B DupMut 1*not_allocated4-- => 1*Reinforcement + 1*RewardEcho

This is the gene which I think played a part in his death. Reward no longer creates reward echo and reinforcement, which means the accumulated reward that has not dispersed (Reward has a half-life of 248, which is about 52 years) will constantly reward Fandom for his actions and reinforces everything he does as positive through the decision lobe, but it won't reinforce the actual concepts in the concept lobe because the chemical Reinforcement is not actually created. It's quite complex and kind of hard to explain if you don't already know what I'm on about. But unless I'm totally wrong, I think this means that the dendrite connections from the decision lobe will remain very strong and never migrate, but the concepts they're attached to will change. I really can't say for certain though.

Original gene:
136 Emb B MutDupCut Creatures, Sensorimotor, I'm asleep, chem=NFP, thresh=0, samp=64, gain=10, features=Inverted Digital

Mutated gene:
136 Emb B MutDupCut Creatures, Sensorimotor, I'm asleep, chem=Hunger, thresh=0, samp=64, gain=10, features=Inverted Digital

Usually this gene makes need for pleasure decrease gradually while the creature sleeps. In this case NFP has been replaced by hunger, which means hunger goes down gradually as he sleeps. I think is is a negative mutation as lower hunger means he'd be less likely to eat.
